One hundred and sixty-one MPs opposed the bid to legalise gay marriage, and, the BBC reports, there has been much public opposition and anger regarding the proposed changes: “Demonstrators against the plans held a vigil opposite the Palace of Westminster as the debate took place. A woman was detained by police after trying to drive a car through the gates of the Palace of Westminster.” Clearly however this vigil, this joy-ride, these righteous chants of “God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve!” have proven ineffectual; new tactics are called for. I suggest opponents of gay marriage try following the example of this fine and ex-upstanding gentleman.
